Safari’s on Windows!

12 06 2007

More importantly, the new Safari is blazing fast! And it conforms to web standards. So WordPress loads properly, and pages load heck a lot more quickly.

Sweet! Get it at the download page.

Oh yar. Did I say it runs on Windows?

*UPDATE: Reports from the wild indicates that, depending on which flavour of XP/Vista your PC is running Safari can be quite a resource hog, taking up to 250Meg of RAM. Anyone can verify that? On the plus side, its resource-friendly on a Mac. Friendlier than v2 in fact. Also, if you fire up Terminal and punch in

defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1

you enable a debugging menu that allows you to call up a HUD (heads-up display) to aid in debugging websites. Real handy.

**LATEST UPDATE: You can do the same in windows by:

OpenC:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Apple Computer\Safari\Preferences.plist

Add the following:

<key>IncludeDebugMenu</key>
<true/>

Punch in the Terminal script and you’ll get this:

And if you right click

You’ll call up the nifty HUD
